Northern District Shooting - Glen Burnie 22-724421

On July 12, 2022, at approximately 10:30 a.m. officers responded for a reported shooting that just occurred at the 5th Avenue Breakfast and Lunch at 503 Greenway Road SE in Glen Burnie. An adult male victim was located with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was alert and conscious when officers arrived, he was transported to an area trauma center. The suspect fled prior to the officers' arrival. Northern District Detectives are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to contact them at (410) 222-6135 or the Anne Arundel County Police Tip-Line at (410) 222-4700.

Northern District 1st Degree Assault / Vehicle Pursuit- Glen Burnie 22-724443/22-724453

On July 12, 2022, at approximately 1:45 p.m. officers were responding to a report of a domestic assault that just occurred at the Cromwell Shopping Center. Responding officers observed the suspect vehicle. Before officers could activate their emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop the suspect put the vehicle in reverse and rammed the occupied police vehicle. The police vehicle was damaged, but the officer did not receive any serious injuries. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was observed by another officer a very short distance away. That officer attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle proceeded through a red light where it was struck by a civilian vehicle. There were minor injuries to the occupant/driver of the civilian vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody.

Northern District Robbery (Commercial) - Glen Burnie 22-724517

On July 13, 2022, at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers responded for a report of a robbery that just occurred at the 7-Eleven at 1250 Crain Highway South in Glen Burnie. Employees on the scene reported a suspect entered the business, jumped the counter, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. The suspect took cash and fled the area on foot. Commercial Robbery Unit Detectives are investigating and ask anyone with any information to call 410-222-4720 or the Anne Arundel County Police Tip-Line at (410) 222-4700.

Southern District Carjacking / Pursuit - Annapolis 22-724527

On July 13, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers responded for a report of a carjacking at the Westfield Annapolis Mall at 2002 Annapolis Mall in Annapolis. The victim, a security guard, was assaulted and pulled from the driver's seat of their marked security vehicle before the vehicle was taken by the suspect. Officers observed the stolen vehicle in the area of Forest Drive and Spa Road in Annapolis where they attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect refused to stop and officers deployed stop sticks to disable the vehicle. The vehicle was stopped in the 400 block of 7th Avenue in Glen Burnie. The suspect fled the vehicle and was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and the vehicle was recovered. 

Brandy Whitmore 35-year-old Annapolis, Maryland

Northern District Theft / Assault (Vehicle) - Glen Burnie 22-724490 

On July 12, 2022, at approximately 6:15 p.m. officers responded for a report of a theft and assault at the Dollar General at 7943 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie. The victim was attempting to stop a shoplifter who had just left the store. The victim attempted to take photos of the suspect and their vehicle, when the suspect put the vehicle in drive and intentionally struck the victim in their attempt to escape. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Northern District Detectives have identified the suspect responsible and are currently seeking charges.

Southern District Citizen Robbery / Annapolis 22-724426

On July 12, 2022, at approximately 11:20 a.m., the administration at Annapolis High School advised the School Resource Officer of a robbery that occurred in a restroom at the school. The juvenile victim advised two other students assaulted and robbed him of his personal property while in the restroom. The victim suffered minor injuries during the attack. The two suspects were charged accordingly.

As the most centrally-located county in Maryland and site of the state capital of Annapolis, Anne Arundel County is in many ways the heart of Maryland. Half a million people call the county home.
