Leading UK carrier Yodel has deployed 1,000 ProGlove MARK 2 glove scanners to augment trailer loading and service centre sortation. It aims to improve visibility, scan control and productivity with the wearable equipment. Since it has deployed the ProGlove MARK 2, Yodel has already seen up to a 50% reduction in loading time on the shop floor that keeps hands free and productive during load and sort operations. Barcode scanning is a crucial element in the processing and delivery of the 190 million parcels delivered by Yodel every year. Shop floor workers handle and scan thousands of parcels daily. ProGlove say that its MARK 2 can save up to four seconds per scan. The scanner is worn on the back of the hand, allowing the hand itself to be free to handle parcels. It comes with haptic, audio and visual feedback that helps flag any scanning errors quickly. This helps sustain speed and guides quality.
