Kochi: The final security inspection prior to the extension of Kochi Metro service from Pettah to SN Junction will begin here on Thursday.

Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety Abhay Kumar Rai will be leading the security checks.

The process will continue till Saturday. Signalling, telecommunication and electrical mechanism will be evaluated.

Meanwhile, the track related works have been completed. It may be noted that this is the first stretch constructed fully under Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL). The construction work began in 2019 and the cost incurred is Rs 453 crore. While another Rs 99 crore was spent for acquiring land for construction.

With the launch of the stretch the total number of metro stations will become 24.
