Elenium Automation and Micro-X collaborate to automate security inspections-AirAsia

Elenium Automation has signed a strategic contract with Micro-X Ltd, an X-ray technology company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, to introduce next-generation security processing to airports around the world. Elenium Automation established a self-service system in Victoria, Australia, to make the airport experience easy. Using biometrics and contactless technology, Elenium enables passengers to walk into the terminal, lay down their luggage, be screened for symptoms of illness, and then proceed to the lounge or gate without touching the boarding pass, luggage tag or screen .

In September 2021, Micro-X signed two contracts with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, first to design and manufacture a miniature X-ray baggage scanner, and secondly to integrate it into the self-check security portal for airport passengers. Elenium has been selected as the main contractor of Micro-X, Inc. to design and test the self-check security portal together with other related industry experts.

The prototype of the new mini-CT baggage scanner can detect hidden threats hidden in the passenger's carry-on baggage. The voice-controlled kiosk eliminates the traditional multi-step security check process, ensures that passengers are never separated from their luggage, and allows passengers to control their security at the grocery store entrance or checkout through an intuitive, self-service workflow similar to automatic passport control. A single portal is about 1/20 of the total footprint of a traditional sequential channel, allowing many different deployments of checkpoints to make the best use of the area. Once the security portal trial begins, Elenium's HealthGate technology (a scanning system that detects potential symptoms of infectious diseases) can be integrated with Micro-X's security screening technology.

Brian Gonzalez, Chief Scientist and General Manager of Micro-X US Business Unit, said: “Every passenger has an airport security horror story to tell. What’s exciting is that this innovative international team is now Able to improve future air travel for all. Elenium's expertise in developing aviation automation tools for all areas of passenger handling (from health checks, check-in, baggage check and boarding) played a key role in ensuring DHS trials . We look forward to seeing the technology deployed and working together to create a better customer experience."

Aaron Hornlimann, CEO and co-founder of Elenium Automation, said: “This relationship is a testament to the expertise and credibility that Elenium has built in helping airlines and airports improve passenger experience and efficiency. “The aviation industry now has a unique opportunity to make it happen. The modernization of its infrastructure allows passengers to experience a seamless, safe and enjoyable experience, and regains the confidence of the traveling public affected by the global pandemic. We are very happy to work with Micro-X to implement efficient, contactless and confidence-building automation tools for airports. "

Elenium's VYGR series products for the aviation industry support an automated home-to-door passenger experience without the complex IT systems that usually limit the use of automation. Elenium products can be found in airports of all sizes, from Queenstown in New Zealand and Avalon in Geelong to Hong Kong International Airport and Abu Dhabi.
