Cascade Hardwoods recently invested in Microtec's CT X-ray log scan and Logeye 900 stereo frame scanner for its factory in Chehalis, Washington.

CT X-ray scanners use computed tomography X-ray reconstructions to detect internal defects, including knots, cracks, decay, and bruises. This information is then passed to the Logeye 900 Stereo Carriage scanner, where each part will be identified by fingerprint technology, optimized for the best rotation and failure, and then sawed to achieve the most value-added solution.

"Microtec is very pleased to work with Cascade Hardwoods on this project because it demonstrates the combination of cutting-edge CT technology with the flexible decomposition capabilities of Headrig sawing. Microtec's CT application expert Norvin Laudon explains that even for smaller sawmills It is also possible to demonstrate and take advantage of the remarkable advancement of Microtec X-ray technology.

Microtec's location in Vancouver, Canada specializes in providing advanced log scanning and optimization solutions for the North American market, from recovery to primary and secondary failures. Visit microtec.eu for more information.
