In the new year, Canon Germany is launching five inkjet printing systems from the established Pixma product line.They all print on the basis of Canon Fine Technology, with which, depending on the device model, one or two pictoliters of ink per minute are finely distributed and, for the most part, the manufacturer's Chromalife100 (+) inks are also used.In addition to the standard ink cartridges, some XL and even XXL cartridges are also available, which according to the manufacturer should result in cost savings of between 30 and 50 percent per page compared to the standard cartridge.These five Pixma device models are scheduled to be launched over the next two months at the following suggested retail prices: in February the IP2850 printer for €49, the iX6850 for €199 and the IP8750 for €349, and in March the MX475 multifunction system for €99 euros and the MX535 for 119 euros.The product details start with the entry-level printer iP2850, which replaces the model iP2700 and is intended for domestic use.The printer has two cartridges, each filled with pigment black ink and dye-based ink.A standard cartridge is sufficient for 180 monochrome or color pages and an optional XL cartridge for 400 black and white or 300 color documents.The A4 device offers a print resolution of up to 4,800 x 600 pixels and outputs a maximum of eight monochrome and four color ISO pages per minute (ESAT test).Among other things, the manufacturer emphasizes the automatic switch-off function in predefined time windows and the quieter operating noise in Quiet mode.The Canon Pixma iX6850 is a DIN-A3+ printer and is therefore particularly suitable for printing large spreadsheets, posters and photos.Compared to the previous model iX6550, it now has the interfaces LAN and WLAN, so that it is suitable for integration into a network at home or in the office.The device integrates five tanks for black pigment ink, black, cyan, magenta and yellow, which are also available here in the standard and XL versions and even in the XXL version for the pigment ink.Depending on the color or black tone, they are sufficient for 324 to 1,645 document pages with the standard cartridges, between 620 and 5,000 pages with XL cartridges and for 1,000 monochrome pages with the XXL cartridge.The print resolution is up to 9,600 x 2,400 dots per inch and the print speed is up to 14.5 monochrome and 10.4 color ISO pages (ESAT).Attention, the manufacturer's information on the ranges and speeds only apply to DIN A4 printing!Nevertheless, Canon emphasizes the increased productivity, the cost advantage and the reducible effort when changing the ink tanks.In addition to the five black and color inks already mentioned, the new iP8750 also contains a container for gray ink.The printer is said to be predestined for detailed and high-contrast photo prints thanks to its six-ink system and print resolution of up to 9,600 dpi.It prints photos and documents borderless up to A3+ format and offers a print speed of 14.5 black and white pages or 10.4 color ISO pages per minute.According to the printer manufacturer, a 10 x 15 centimeter standard paper print is ready in around 36 seconds and an A3 photo print in two minutes.Depending on the ink used, the range of the standard and XL cartridges is 300 to 1,105 DIN A4 pages or between 500 and 4,405 pages.With the device, Canon points out the "Direct Disc Print" function for label printing on suitable Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs.Of course, the multifunction systems Canon Pixma MX475 and Pixma MX535 are real all-rounders.With their functions for printing, copying, scanning and faxing, the space-saving devices are particularly suitable for the home office.According to the manufacturer, the two-ink systems replace the MX455 and MX525 models and "enable efficient, fast processing of multi-page documents for copying and scanning thanks to the automatic document feeder for up to 30 sheets".The print resolution is up to 4800 x 1200 dpi and the scan resolution is 1200 x 2400 dpi.According to the FCOT test, a colored document is scanned in around 21 seconds and a DIN A4 original in 15 seconds.While the latter model still allows automatic duplex printing and cloud access, both systems are compatible with the Canon Pixma Printing Solutions app, Google Cloud Print and Apple Air Print.This allows them to view the templates and issue print jobs via mobile devices or appropriately equipped printers.If you want to use articles from CIO, Computerwoche, TecChannel or channel partners for commercial reproduction, you must purchase a license.Please contact our partner, YGS Group (email: IDGLicensing@theygsgroup.com)© 2022 IDG Tech Media GmbH, Munich.All rights reserved.
